An object-oriented programming language developed by Sun Microsystems.
Java code can run on most computers because it utilises interpreter software
called Java Virtual Machine which has been developed for Windows, UNIX
and the Macintosh OS. For this reason it is widely used to provide applications
that run over the internet. |

An abbreviation (actually the filename extension) for MPEG audio layer
3. This is a format for the compression of audio signals. Because MP3
files are comparatively small they can be easily distributed via the Internet. |

Portable Document Format, a proprietary file format developed by Adobe |
| SGML |
Standard Generalized Markup Language, a system for organizing the formatting
documents. SGML is not a style of formatting, but a set of rules for tagging
elements in a document so that they can be formatted. |
